The department of Electronics and communication engineering established in the year 1999 offers. Under Graduate Program with the student intake of 120 for UG program in ECE. The department provides a unique learning environment through integrated teaching, focusing on industry needs and advancements, to create future ready engineers.

The Department has always been on a high growth path and has experienced and dedicated faculty with strong commitment towards engineering education who work with zeal and enthusiasm to provide a vibrant and optimum learning environment to the students in order to help them excel in today’s competitive environment.

The department also focuses on infusing confidence in the minds of students and to develop them as entrepreneurs. It develops expertise for consultative activities by providing opportunities for industry – institute interaction. It is also constantly upgrading the technical expertise for producing competent professionals to cater to the needs of society and to meet the global challenges. The Department has a very strong Board of Studies committee to look after the academic activities.

The department has got every facility to groom the students as per the demands of the industries and MNCs.

The Department has good infrastructural facilities, full-fledged laboratories with well-equipped hardware and software which improves the practical working competency in the students. The department aims at educating and training students with sound knowledge and awareness in the latest trends in Electronics and Communication Engineering. The department is granted with good number of sponsored projects/faculty development programs/seminar grants from the funding agencies.

We can proudly say that the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering is NBA Accredited.

The students in the department have formed in to “ECE student Association”. The objective of this technical association is to encourage participating and conducting various academic & extra-curricular activities in the advanced fields of VLSI system Design, Embedded Systems, Wireless Communication, Image Processing, and Radar Engineering etc. Under the aegis of department association, prestigious ISTE & IETE student chapter was started in the year 2009.

HOD Message

Welcome to the department of Electronics & Communication Engineering at Guru Nanak Institute of Technology, Ibrahimpatnam, Hyderabad. The department was established in the year 1999 with the aims of providing leadership in the field of Electronics & Communication Engineering and pioneering interdisciplinary research. The department is offering UG in Electronics & Communication Engineering with student intake of 120 and PG program with specialization in embedded systems with student intake 09 each for PG program.

We strive to train and empower our students who will make the world a better place by using power of engineering principles, techniques and systems. To that end, considerable initiative have been taken to establish state of the art research laboratories in the area of VLSI design and technology, embedded systems and IoT, microwave engineering and optical communication, digital signal processing, microprocessor and microcontrollers, electronics devices and circuits, etc. Additionally, being a center of excellence, the institute provides greater exposure of core areas of inter disciplinary subjects to the students of ECE department.

The department encourages students to undertake sponsored research from industry and government agencies. The department provide healthy environment to students and faculties to carry out inter department collaborative research in area like IoT, robotics, etc. Having undergone such a robust academic programme under the supervision of highest quality faculty members, I am sure that all passing out students of the department are capable of visualizing.

Shatrughna Prasad Yadav received his B. Tech. in electronics and communication engineering from the Institution of Engineers (India) in 1992, M. Tech. in digital systems from Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Allahabad in 2002, MBA from Indiragandhi University, New delhi in 1998 and Ph.D. in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Gujarat Technological University, Ahmedabad in 2017. His research interest includes digital communication, and digital signal processing.

Dr. Santhosh Kumar Allemki is working as Associate Prof in the Department of ECE at Guru Nanak Institute of Technology, Hyderabad. He completed his B.Tech ECE in 2006 from JNTUH, M.Tech Digital Systems and Computer Electronics in 2011 from JNTUH, and Ph.D in ECE from Omprakash Joginder Singh University in 2019. He has 18 years of teaching experience. He has published 30 papers in International Journals & conferences and published 4 patents. He written 5 textbooks in the area of of subjects are signals, antennas, Diodes, Electromagnetic fields. His research interest includes Electromagnetic fields, Antennas. Dr. N.SRINIVAS is working as Associate Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Guru Nanak Institute of Technology, Hyderabad. He completed his B.Tech ECE from JNTUH , in 2002, M.Tech ECE(VLSI) with Distinction from JNTUH University, in 2005, and Ph.D. in ECE(VLSI) from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad, Hyderabad in 2023. He has 22 years of teaching experience. He has published 24 international journals , sic conferences and published 4 patents. His research interest includes Low Power VLSI,IOT and Signal Processing. He is a member of ISTE. He is a editor of springer conference papers.

Dr. Naorem Yaipharenba Meitei received his Ph.D. degree from National Institute of Technology Silchar in the year 2023. He completed his M.Tech in VLSI and Nanotechnology from National Institute of Technology Agartala in 2015. He passed his B.Tech from North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology Nirjuli, Arunachal pradesh. He worked as Assistant Professor under TEQIP-III at Jorhat Institute of Science and Technology and Gauhati University Institute of Science and Technology for around 4 years. Currently he is working in the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Guru Nanak Institute of Technology as an Assistant Professor. His area of research includes VLSI physical design, Optimization Techniques, Algorithms on VLSI CAD.

Gambala Kiranmaye received her B.E degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Osmania University, Hyderabad. M.Tech in Very Large Scale Integrated System Design from the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad, Hyderabad, India. Submitted Ph.D. thesis in Very Large Scale Integrated Systems Architectures and Image Processing at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad, Hyderabad, India. She has good industrial exposure in the field of VLSI and worked on developing new architectures for Advanced Microcontroller Bus architectures. She is having 22 years of vast experience in the academics in different areas. Presently, she is working as Associate Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communications Engineering at Guru Nanak Institutions Technical Campus, Hyderabad and also acting like Exam-branch in-charge and BOS member for the Autonomous institution. Her current research interests include VLSI Systems Design and Image Processing with more than 16 research papers in national and international journals and conferences to her credit .She has also got patents in the field of Drone technology, VLSI architectures and Spectrum detection techniques.

N.Laxmi is working as an Assoc. Professor in the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Guru Nanak Institute of Technology, Hyderabad. She completed her B.E degree in Electronics Engineering from KITS Ramtek affiliated to Nagpur University in 1993. M.Tech Degree in DECS from Guru Nanak Institute of Technology affiliated to JNTU, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh in 2010. She is currently working towards the Ph.D. degree in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering Rayalaseema University. M.Premalatha is working as Associate Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Guru Nanak Institute of Technology, Hyderabad. Laboratories

The department is well equipped with state-of-art laboratories and infrastructural facilities. The Electronics and Communication Engineering use the key principles as well as other stock of knowledge to design and analyze the devices, circuits, signals, Systems, Integrated Circuits, Microwave components and Devices, Microprocessors and Micro Controllers etc. The consistent guidance of States-of-art laboratories in the department is:

ELECTRONIC DEVICES & CIRCUITS LAB:

This lab is well provided with equipment like Cathode Ray Oscilloscopes (CRO), Digital Oscilloscopes, Regulated DC power supplies (RPS), Function Generators and Digital and Analog meters of a wide range. This lab gives practical observation on different basic applications of electronic devices. This lab helps the B.Tech students to gain practical experience with designing and implementing concepts of electronic devices and circuits such as diodes, transistor configurations, rectifiers, biasing circuits and amplifiers.

BASIC SIMULATION LAB:

Basic Simulation Laboratory is offered to B.Tech II Year ECE students. The objective of this laboratory is to enable the students to acknowledge with basic signals, system responses and statistical properties of a random noise.Students can acquire practical experience with the generation and simulation of basic signals using MATLAB/SCI LAB

DIGITAL IC APPLICATIONS LAB:

The Digital IC Applications Lab course is to gain the practical hands on experience by exposing the students to applications and designing of various circuits using integrated circuits, like adders/subtractors, priority encoders, comparators, counters, shift registers and multiplexers. Based on the circuit design students will come to know which IC is suitable for given application. Students will come to know how to cascade the ICs.

ANALOG COMMUNICATIONS LAB:

This laboratory is well equipped with Analog communication trainer kits and Digital communication trainer kits. Students execute programs in hardware and assembly level programs. This lab lays strong foundation to the students to understand other advanced subjects like Micro Controllers and Embedded Systems.

ELECTRONIC CIRCUITS AND ANALOG ELECTRONICS LAB:

Electronics Circuits and Analog Electronics Lab deal with the concepts of Pulse shaping, Multi-vibrators, Oscillators, Power amplifiers, Amplifiers, Switching Circuits etc. Students perform experiments on the trainer kits. This laboratory also helps the students in doing their Mini Projects.

DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING LAB:

In Digital Signal Processing Lab Software’s used for this lab are MATLAB, Complier. This lab is well equipped with 60 PC systems. The lab has projector so that students can directly understand the simulation process and directly learn the process and programming techniques with support of eminent faculty members

EMBEDDED SYSTEMS AND IOT LAB:

IoT-LAB is a part of the FIT (Future Internet of the Things) platform. ...IoT is a booming technology, through which all devices can be monitored and control remotely. This technology has a bright future in the upcoming days, there is research going on in this field. ES & IoT lab helps the student to make the projects on IoT technology with practical implementation. GNIT is striving to make all labs completely innovative and advanced.

With full enthusiasm IETE Student Forum(ISF) has been inaugurated at ECE Department, Guru Nanak Institute of Technology on 17th December at 12:00 p.m.

The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) is India's leading recognized professional society devoted to the advancement of Science and Technology of Electronics, Telecommunication & IT, founded in 1953. It is our gratification to inaugurate the ISF at the diamond jubilee year of IETE.The IETE Students'Forum of GNIT has been set up with 76 student members from ECE dept throughth einvolvement of faculty members of the department. The IETE Centre, Hyderabad region provided support and coordination in the establishment of the forum.

Activity

Under the leadership of new executive student committee, the seasonal activity in the month has been conducted in which Videos related to TED talks and debate competitions were played and organized. Students were very enthusiastic to participate and organize their own events.

In the month of July,2018 IETE ISF has conducted a Self assessment test to all the IETE and Non IETE Student members of GNIT. This test comprised of questions related to Technical, aptitude , reasoning and General Awareness. Around 250 students from department of ECE of all years have taken up this challenge.

On the occasion of “Voters Day” 12 students of ECE Department have participated in the program organized by GNIT NSS group in the GNIT campus on 25th Jan, 2018. The MRO of the Ibrahimpatrnam had presided to this event.

The Ninth international conference on “Innovations in Electronics and Communication Engineering” (ICIECE-2021) organized by the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Guru Nanak Institute of Technology, Hyderabad during August 13-14, 2021. The research contributions were from all over India and from other countries of the world.. All papers had been subjected to plagiarism check and two blind reviews by reputed reviewers from all over the country. The selection of papers had been based on these reviews and the uniqueness of the content presented in the papers.
